Saratoga Californa’s hillside location and marine-influenced weather pattern make for vineyards that have fabulous plantings.
Legendary French immigrant and winemaker, Paul Masson, called this area the “Chaine d’Or”, a moniker that today’s grape growers perpetuate.
Estate wine labels from Saratoga vineyards include Cooper-Garrod, The Mountain Winery, Mount Eden, Domaine Eden, Kathryn Kennedy, Savannah-Chanelle, and House Family Winery. And, that represents an intriguing array of grape varieties: Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Zinfandel. Certified Organic and Sustainable Wineries
Cooper-Garrod and Kathryn Kennedy vineyards are CCOF Certified Organic, and Cooper-Garrod is also CCSW Certified Sustainable. These designations require substantial effort on the part of the winegrower.
